He must not know too much about the car since he thinks a new CAT will cost $700.
I bet his mechanic told him that'* what he would charge him.

I'd definitely lowball! Say $1500 FWIW!

the dent alone would stop me from buying it even if it ran great.

think about that for when you try to resell it after putting some mony in it.

dents and a paint job cost big bucks.

250 painted pearl white? I find that hard to believe.

I'd hit it! The problems are pretty minor, easy opportunity to make some easy cash or have a decent 2nd ride which the cops won't recognize.

I went and saw it tonight. It is NICE

the front damage is on the fender, and does go about 6" into the door. So the door will need some attention. The tires are brand new, as is the battery.

The guy was just as I thought, a 30-35 business man, is getting married in a week and moving to Oregon in 2 weeks. He NEEDS to get rid of the car before then. He is the type that didn't know ANYTHING about cars. However, I played along, I was dumber than he was

It had green coolant, trans fluid was pink, oil was brown (not black) but was a tad low. The exterior is an 8/10, as there is some small rust spots formin on the bottom'* of the doors.. about quarter sized. The paint on the trunk lid is going to need some attention, should be fixable though. (it felt rough on my hand). The tires are new, but several of the center caps are missing. The starter is not really "bad", it is just on its way out.. he said it doesnt start one every 5-8 tries, so you just need to crank twice sometimes. It worked for me! The cat felt fine to me, there was no power loss, and no rattles from the exhaust. He is only going by what his mechanic told him (who is full of it, imo). The interior is MINT, there are so many options! It is optioned out the same or better as my SSEi. The trunk is HUGE. It just got current tabs.

As this point, I tell him I really like the car, and then I lowball him at $1500.

he thinks, not very long, and says, "to be honest with you, I have $1600 left to pay on it, so thats the lowest I can let it go for" I told him it was sold. Then he laughs!

He goes on to explain that he has never sold a car before, and had never used craigslist, and really didn't expect to sell the car so soon. He said he needs to drive it until Friday to get to his last day of work

I say that is fine, I will get it on Saturday. So we will go to his bank and get the lean released. The car is mine on Saturday morning, for $1600
