Had a similar situation when I was in h.*., freshman year. We were in gym class, on the wrestling unit. The guy whom i was with chopped down my arm and that caused my arm to go out behind me instead of underneath me. My weight went to the direction of my hand and I landed on my fingers, bending them most of the way to my wrist. I simply thought I had jammed them and went to the Nurse'* office for an ice pack. My three fingers turned every color during the day, but I never went home. I just kept getting ice packs refreshed. When I got home, I called my mom at work and said "I think my fingers are broken, they're blue, purple, and green"
Ended up in the ER getting a temporary cast put on. The fingers weren't even fully broken, had what they call a "buckle fracture". All this happened the day before I was to try out for the wrestling team. I made the team, but couldn't wrestle until about mid-way through the season. And, having not practiced at full speed, could not do anything right. So ends my heroic tale of broken fingers.
Get that looked at or you'll have a deformed hand if that heals incorrectly

I vote for getting it checked out and X-rayed. If you have insurance, that'* what it'* for. You don't want to lose typing ability in that hand do you?

Back in high school I went camping and was goofin around and fell on my hand and broke my ring finger. So, I just stapped in back and went about having fun. It was swollen real bad for 2 months. Couldn't move it either. Now its kinda crooked but it still works.

If you can type...they aren't broken.
Simple..get ice and follow Tracy'* post. She'* a mom and knows her stuff. Also keep it up above your heart..and stop typing. Let it rest.

I agree if you can type it probably isn't broken. But take it easy with that and let it rest it will only allow it to heal faster.
Once I hyper extended my thumb on my right hand sleding. It swelled up alot and hurt for weeks but nothing was broken.

I don't think it'* broken. Usually if it gets broken you will have waves of hot and cold through the affected area. I broke my wrist and it didn't really hurt.. I just suddenly got weak and had the flashing hot/cold throughout my entire arm. Just give it some time.
