Whats the best thing to look at when buying a monitor.
i've been looking at a few 19" widescreens...

whats better, a high resolution, high refresh rate, High contrast ratio? I don't know what any of it means really...

what is your budget?

A high resolution is good, if it doesn't support at least 1600x1200 I am not interested

a high refresh rate is good for gaming, read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refresh_rate

Look for 2-5ms response. Acer and Viewsonic are good. I like Samsung as well, but some reviews complain of bad bleedthrough.

Personally I have a friggin' 28" Viewsonic 1920x1200 3ms beast. GO BIG OR GO HOME!

the above monitor is 164 and free shipping too. thats about my budget.

I've seen and used that monitor personally. The resolution sucks (like most 19" widescreens), but if you can get past that, it'* a beautiful display.

crt'* use refresh rate, , lcd'* use response time

looks like a good monitor,, you did see its refurbished and only has 90 day warranty right.??

I have a 17" BenQ FP71G that has been successfully refurbed (still in its box). Its a bit small for your use Darrel. There is so much to choose from out there, good luck!

I wouldn't shy away from a refurb item. I purchased a refurbed graphic tablet for my daughter a year or so ago and it'* been flawless. "Refurbished" doesn't necessarily mean an item was heavily damaged. It may have been returned because the purchaser didn't like the color, or it was incompatible with his equipment, or the cables were missing. It goes back to the factory from the supplier, they check it out and if it passes inspection, it'* release as a refurbished item. If it has major damage like a hosed power supply or a cracked screen, it'* tossed into the dumpster because it'* more costly to repair than to write it off. Every item that'* refurbed goes through a functional check - very few items off an assembly line are ever checked.

Still, there'* something about new...

I would have expected more than a 90 day warranty, though. :? Hannah'* refurbed tablet had the full standard factory warranty - one year, I think.

i was always told though that ACER was a pretty crappy brand though. thats why i was looking at LG. am i wrong?
