I know the proper thing to do is give a two week notice.
The main thing to remember is that you don't ever want to burn any bridges even if you hate the job. You may regret it five years down the road when they are called for references...but fast food, yah, I'd give them about five minutes notice since that won't be going on any resumes.
Good luck with your new gig.

Thats how it is where I work. If anyone puts in thier 2 weeks they tell you to go ahead and leave now. They do still pay you for the next 2 weeks though. Everyone jokes that people should just give their 50 years notice and see if they will still pay you for 50 years without having to work.

Wow, that'* a sweet gig right there. I would resign for two weeks off with pay and then come back, telling them I had made a huge mistake!!!.

wow...i never realized how lucky i am at my job...my manager is nice compared with what you guys have to put up with, and they acknowledge two-weeks notice more than your bosses. (i work in the kitchen at a retirement home), if someone just quits without notice, we have to have them covered on the schedule, so it really hurts the workplace for a while...glad you're done with that job
