Brush with greatness
In May of 89' I was lucky and got to celebrate Trevor Lindens 19th birthday in Vancouver. Me and a buddy were in the North Burnaby Inn enjoying a few when in walks the Vancouver Canucks! Play offs had just ended and Trev had turned 19 on the road so the boys were taking him out to see the peelers. Being broke colledge boys me and my buddy made friendly with the extra rounds everyone was buying and somehow I got to sit right next to him and watch the show. After an hour or so they started to leave for the parking lot and left pitchers of beer and trays of shooter behind!
Thinking this was over and free drinks with a story to tell the next day, the side door opened back up and it was Trevor asking if we were comming with them to the Drake? Outside were 3 big white limos with the canucks asking us to pile in.....well the night went great hoping from bar to bar as we took in every pealer joint in the lower mainland. The next day I barely made it school but had to show the pics and autographed coasters to my classmates. Me and Scotty (buddy that was with me) get together every few years and thats the first story we relive.....Good times

ok. country singer Brad Paisley used to perform at my elementary school when he was younger . I had an autographed picture of him then that would be worth lots of money now if I hadn't lost it. He is from moundsville WV which is 25 minutes, maybe a little more, from where I grew up.

Rick Emmitt is a family friend, my dad did business with Oscar Peterson and the Barenaked Ladies.
Back in the day on my old street a lot of the Toronto Blue Jays coaching staff lived in the townhomes for the summer. In my old grocery store where I worked during HS, I met up and chatted with Felix Potvin, Doug Gilmour and Tie Domi.
My grandparents are family friends with the Evangelista'*...I would love to meet Linda, but have yet to.
oh and I met Moshe Safdie a world reknowned architect!

I was at the swearing in ceremony for current Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino... that was back in the 7th or 8th grade ( 3-4 years ago). And, I was at city hall when an archbishop (?), Desmond Tutu, came to town. Had a photo taken with a bunch of classmates - I used to be like the shortest kid back then, and being in the back of the crowd, you can only make out one eye and part of my nose
