I pay 98% of my bills on line with BOA. In the 4 years I have been doing this I have only 1 mistake and I was the one that made it.
I prefer to manually pay the bill. I also download all transactions into MS Money twice a month. Makes balancing the checkbook a breeze.
When the optical check reader first came out in the ATM’* it really was pathetic. In the last 3 months I have had no problems with the optical scanner reading deposited checks in an ATM either.

I'm with lash - I only bank with credit unions. Better returns on savings and checking, no monthly fees, no balance requirements, and better loans - Home, HELOC, and auto.

I feel your frustration, but mine is a little different. I have auto-payment with alltel and 'mysteriously' their auto payment has failed several times and two months later I get a call telling me my phone is going to be shut off and I have to pay a fee to reactivate.

Gah...I hate BOA!!
I had an account with them when I lived in Texas, I left my account alone after I switched banks...I had an unauthorized transaction...a $10 automatic debit, and when I left the account alone I had less than $10 in there. I left it open simply because my plan WAS to move back to Texas a few months later.
I got a collection letter in the mail a few months back, they're trying to collect over $400 in overdraft and negative account balance fees now. Good luck, BOA!
I disputed the fee before, and it was supposed to be taken care of, and my account closed, and apparently they don't listen.
Good luck getting everything straightened out!

I haven't used a conventional bank since the early '80s.
A credit union is actually owned by all it'* members. As a result, the best ones are not out to make piles of money off the members.

Credit Union'* normally are a lot better and do not try to scam you out of every little penny they can. and most of the time they have more or all Free things and also will give you better rates on loans.

Yeah, I did go to the JY...found a few goodies.
Overdraft protection...gotta have money in savings for that.
I'm all for the billpay. It just sucks that they take the money out BEFORE I want them to, more like BEFORE I tell them to. Once the fees get yanked out, they will put them back in for me, but will take a few days. Its good that they guarantee the date because of this very reason. But it sure does put a damper on convinience (spelling)
