IIRC, those monitors were sourced from Sony...Trinitrons too

I have seen a few of them at the junkyard here, but I wouldn't trust them.

Also, how the hell is the stereo run? Were new wires run for the stereo or was it a cut-n-splice job?

i found a website called www.trofeoparts.com and emailed the guy. he has a rust/dent free door and fender from a '92 Trofeo that came from Tuscon in exactly the same color as my car and told me he'd sell both for $300. i'm really tempted to ****** them up but shipping would be killer :( however i wouldn't have to spend money getting them paint matched i guess. sure would make the car look alot nicer.... he also sent me a few pics and the guy has like 12-15 Trofeos parked in his yard!

btw, i pulled the intsrument panel today and sprayed down the connectors with CRC QD cleaner and reinstalled it - still didn't work. then after work tonight i started up the car and what do you know, all of the gauges, lights and DIC work in the intsrument panel and the VIC is back to working like normal. i figure there must be some intermittent problem inside the cluster. hopefully it keeps working but i'm doubting it. i finally got to play around with the VIC though - that thing is pretty freaking cool

i'll have to check on that and maybe get a pic. i have the center console out right now so it'* all in plain view. it looks like they used the right GM Schosche (sp) adapter but they used those cheesy twist on splice connectors. i''m going to redo all of that and use solder with heat shrink tubing (those Bernzomatic pen torches work great for jobs like this). i hate it when people do cheeseball wiring jobs it doesn't look like any of the factory wiring was cut out though. i know the amp that sits under the center console is no longer being used, so i think i'm just going to remove it. and of course the VIC and the steering wheel stereo controls don't work with the new Pioneer HU. i'll get a better look at it today; hopefully i don't find any major hack jobs that would suck.

btw, i took some screenshots of the VIC (18 of them). pretty cool feature;

Speaking of this...

Some guy dropped an L67 and put a 5 Speed in. Granted, TS'* is a 92 and the one above is an 88, still might be useful.

haha the oil is actually still fairly clean, it only says that because the previous owner probably didn't reset the oil monitor last time it was changed (probably because the intermittent instrument panel issue wouldn't save it). i'm sure the oil has actually been changed since then. major tune up coming soon, including oil change (doh!) O2 sensor, TPS, MAT sensor, air filter and a transmission filter and partial fluid change. the tranny fluid is still on the pink/red side but it'* starting to get a little dirty.

unfortunately the instrument panel is back to not working this morning, and once again no VIC i'm going to send the instrument panel out to be refurbished next payday and hopefully won't have to deal with that problem anymore.

definately not doing the Getrag 5-speed swap to this car, i want to keep this one automatic. i might eventually do an Series I (or II) L67 engine swap or hell, even turbocharge the L27! but to be honest i'll probably make my Regal GS the 'fast' car and just leave this one stock. i mostly just want to make it nice looking again inside/out; a nice highway cruiser that gets good gas mileage. although like i mentioned earlier, this thing outhandles and out brakes my Regal GS big time!! the Regal is practically scary to drive compared to the Trofeo on tight/fast corners and panic stops.
