Default So proud of my wife...

In the last four months my wife has managed to completely turn her life around. She weighed 220lbs in October.

She has been working out every day since then. Jillian Micheals workout tapes. She'* also started eating healthy and tracking calories using myfitnesspal.com.
In 4 months she'* lost 55lbs. She now weighs 165lbs and is still going. Waist is down to size 6.

BUT THAT'* NOT ALL!

Recently, she accepted a position as a labor Doula. She starts on March 1st and will be making 45% more than her previous job.

I married a good one! I cant be more proud of her accomplishments.

Congrats to the Mrs!!! I've got 30 Lbs I'm having a hard time with. Up to two years ago I weighed 220 in the summer and crept up on 240 in the winter. This past spring it didnt come off, Now sitting at 250. Moooo. Got to get it off. I have alot of money in suits and leathers I'm not going to rebuy. Doesn't help being inactive and nursing this leg, I have to learn to eat to what I'm doing not what I used to eating.

If people would stop listening to USDA regulations and following what "they" think is "healthy eating", lots more people would lose weight.

I take after my dad, in that I'm built like a stick. But just because I look healthy, doesn't mean I am. My dad was an athlete in college, weighed in at 120 back then. Now, he is still a thin frame guy, but has recently shot up in weight, diagnosed type 2, high BP, and 2 heart attacks. All in the last 8 years. He'* only 63.

I did a lot of reading into diets, type 2 (especially since my grandmother on moms side was a type 1, so I'm probably headed there). You would be amazed at the amount of sheer BS that is passed off as a "good" diet. Look up Gary Taubes lectures, or Tom Naughton'* lecture "Big Fat Fiasco" or his movie "Fathead". I've spoken to Tom personally, and he'* a down to earth guy, that knows his stuff. I've learned a lot in the past few months. Its tough to make diet changes, but I don't look at food the same way anymore.

Its all about carbs, and other things that mess up your metabolism. Cut down on carbs, eat more fat and protein. Saturated fat is not bad for you, nor is cholesterol. I've cut out a lot of sugar, refined carbs, and starches, and added in saturated fats. And its tough to follow, but the closer I stick to it, and the more I cut out carbs, the better I feel. I sleep better, aren't as anxious, and I don't have huge mood swings or hunger anymore. I haven't lost weight, but then I haven't gained any either.

Its something to think about. I'm pretty skeptical about radical ideas, but after reading and watching some of the material thats out there debunking the past 40 years of what we were taught as being "healthy", it makes sense.

Here is a link to part 1 of a taping of Tom'* lecture. If you really want to get serious about diet, your health and possibly losing weight, its worth watching the whole series
