Default So my dad one-ups me again...

So, my 94 recently broke down and I've decided not to repair it because I need a more reliable car next year for my full-time student teaching. My dad was nice enough to pass along his 2000 SSEi to me and I'm already beginning to forget about my old car.

However, the situation caused a problem because my dad was going to be without a car for a little while unless he got a rental car or bought another one soon.

Take a guess at what he did.

He was driving by a local dealership and they had just put out a 2007 Grand Prix GXP. My dad'* eyes lit up and he ended up buying it right then. It has 30k miles on it (it was a rental car) and is a dark grey color. He got a full warranty and everything on it for around $17k which is a great price IMO. We took a trip out west last summer and ended up having the same exact car for our trip and we loved it so it was an easy decision.

I won't be going home for about 3 more weeks but I'll be sure to get pictures then.

having owned a 95 sle in my past, and having driven a few 2000+, the 92 - 99 feels a lot more spacious inside. . . but the 00+ handled so much better, and looks better on the outside

but.. either way, i don't know which i'd take if i had them both handed to me, with 0 miles on them.

Congrats on the new car!

Oh man, I couldn't imagine renting a GXP...I hope no one did to it what I would think about doing to it.
Good find, great car.

Haha, that'* why he got the full warranty on it. If anything happens, it'* covered. Trust me, we had plenty of fun with our rental car too.

Sounds like a killer deal. I don't really trust the transmission mated to smallblock up front. To much power for that trans, but with full warranty, you should be ok!

Haha, I am quite fortunate I must admit.

I love how he haggles with dealers too. He walks in and tells them the car he wants and how much he is willing to pay. If they say anything except yes, he walks out. The dealer is in complete shock and they ask him to come back. He says that unless it'* the price he offered for it, he'* not interested. It seems to work wonders.

It works like a charm. He did the same thing when he bought his SSEi (now mine). They wanted around $17k and he told them $14k or he'd leave. They said "OK" and he walked out. They came running after him and yelling at him to wait. It shows that you aren't messing around and that you'll take your business elsewhere.
