Default So heres a stumper...

I have Utorrent on my computer, and whenever i use it it takes down my entire network. I have two computers hooked up to a Belkin Router. Whenever i use Utorrent, i'll wake up in the morning, and the network is down. To get it back up i have to reset the router, restart the computers, and restart the cable modem, and sometimes that doesn't even work, like today i spent a good 3 hours trying to get the network back up.
The router works fine, it has status lights saying it sees the modem but can't get the internet from the modem.
I have charter cable internet so i call them, and they tell me they don't support routers, so i'd have to call the router company. The router company says its the ISP'* fault.

But it only happens when i use Utorrent. Anybody had this problem? Or know what may be making Utorrent do this?

Have you changed your port setting? If not change it to something like 50000 or something and make SURE you have the green checkmark at the bottom of the application (not the caution sign or red x)

Hmm, could be your ISP is trying to prevent file sharing. Some have been known to do that. I would try a different program to see it the issue changes any.

If you get the same outcome, it'* your ISP. If all goes well, then it may be a settings issue.

idk, if it'* his router failing, it won't be his ISP IMO. Try hooking up directly to the modem if possible. I'd like to see what happens. Oh, and ISPs can't block torrents, they can only block ports, and if he'* getting a green check mark, that means his ISP is ok.

I had a simular problem a ways back and I diagnosed it to the router overheating. If your router is in a confined location try moving it or pointing a fan at it.

I dislike Belkin products to begin with. I've yet to have one work right out of the box. My last try was a bluetooth usb dongle that didn't work; took out my wired network. I called Tech Support and all they said was 'take it back'; they didn't even try troubleshooting it. LOL
