Default Stupid State Cops

Well, today was definitely a long day at work. People definitely do not know how to care for diesel engines in cold weather. We had to go on at least 8 calls of people whose trucks wouldn't start (UHaul). While returning from one such call (I was in the 'Ville, mind you) I get pulled over by a state cop. He said I didn't have my seatbelt on when I was coming up behind him. He was sitting in a median on the street and saw me trying to put my seatbelt on when I came up past him. The real situation was that I had just taken off my seatbelt to zip my jacket back up because my car was ice cold from sitting all day and was just about to put it back on. He still decided to give me a citation for the damn seat belt. And to top it off, he got me for no insurance because my new card is in the mail and i'm away at school so i've got the old one and am still waiting for the new one to get here. Granted the insurance citation will get dropped in court, it'* the principle of the seatbelt that gets me. No more than 15 seconds with it off and that'* all that damn cop needed. Now I've gotta come back down here (Bloomington) over XMas break just to go to court and have that stuff dropped.

That sucks.

FYI...I really don't care, but a lot of people here don't take kindly to cop-bashing.

Last time I checked, granted its in MN, there is no clause in the statute to allow for you to be unbuckled to take your jacket off. Now look at it from the cops point of view. You are sitting in the median and a car passes you, as they pass you, you see the driver put on his seat belt. What does that look like to you? Just think of all the excuses the cop has heard over the years? If that was me, I would do the same thing. It may be only 15 seconds, but as the cliche goes, it only takes a second.
Give em a brake hes doing his job.

Click-it or ticket. My boss got pulled over by a comercial vehicle inspector because he put his belt on when we passed the insector sitting on the shoulder. I still don't know how he saw that. We passed him doing 65mph or so.

After verbalizing my argument, I just gave in and accepted it simply because I thought about his POV. Not that big a deal, it'* just a matter of principle I guess.

Here in *.C. it'* still choice but,Friday they become manditory.

IMO it should be like helmet laws. If you're over 21,it should be a matter of choice.
