Default Sitting at the dealer...

Since i'm in the 2nd month of working for Walgreens, I needed to prove my income to the dealer so VW Financing could approve my loan. I decided best to do it today instead of when I take delivery thursday, so there'* no unforseen problems. They also got me a great rate...

I decided to go check out the car today since I didn't have any pix of it, and haven't seen it in a few days since they pulled it out of their fleet. Sales guy John, is awesome. A true car afficionado, worked at a few top tier dealers in town on serious cars, and really shows an appreciation for cars, he'* a car guy, not a salesman. No pressure what-so-ever, and very helpful throughout the whole deal so far.

The car? 2006 GTI with DSG gearbox, the 6 speed double clutch sequential one... Got the lighter, aggressive looking wheels, 6 disc mp3 in dash, interlagos plaid seats, all season Conti'*, moonroof. My only real concession to performance, could be the moonroof for weight i guess, but then I get a shark fin satellite antenna instead of a pole one. It is exactly how I'd option it out. Got a free iPod kit out of it, and John is trying to get me winter mats for free too.

Pulled out the phone and snapped a few shots @ 2megapixels..

They don't even put badges on cars there, and it'* not because they don't have money. They've fully paid for a huge lumber yard for their new dealer, but the city of Burnsville won't let them build the size of building they want.

I won't leave BC, heck i'll probably still show up at meets too I like all "good" cars, and good times aren't bad either

I would jump all over that myself too.

But mine would be in silver with those awesome five "circlers" rims and maybe a five door instead of a three door and with plaid seats

I wasn't too impressed performance wise by these. Not really any differance than a stock SSEI. I'm not a huge fan of VW because I've seen a lot of crappy ones, but from what I've seen on the newer ones, they've got it down a lot better.
Good luck with the car, and enjoy having a manual!
Just don't get boost crazy.....

Yessss, soon us GTI owners will take over this forum, and it will be the GTI club, muahahahaha!

But seriously, AWESOME, AWESOME car. I myself dont like the red, but if your getting a good deal, who cares?

If you put a $1,000 of mods into it you can get up to around 245hp and 307t.

I got the base package with the 2 doors (less wight). Ran me around 22k.

It'll outhandle any bonneville, and adding power is almost stupid easy..The 6 speed DSG is also light years faster/fun then the 4t-6x variants. It'* not a direct competitor to an SSEi based on size, and initial cost, but it'll run with or take a stock one.

My car? 200HP 2.0T, a ULEV-II rated motor, AND it'* one of the smoothest cars I've ever driven. Max torque is available below 2000RPM, and all the way to 5000 RPM.

Mod wise, I won't go nuts, atleast not for a while. I like to mod cars based on drivability, not just shear performance by numbers, and I really like to get a feel for a car before I change it. Once the OE suspension wears out i'll put on some nice adjustable coil-overs on for sure though.

Logan - GTI'* are a little cheaper for the same engine/tranny combo I think most of the time, and the hatch means I can fit even bigger things in this than the Bonne. I really have grown to like the hot hatch look over the last two years.

Majorchaos - Option-wise it'* exactly what I wanted, the spoked wheels, DSG, and Package 1 for the moonroof. I wanted any car but black, and the red blends nicely with the grille lipstick, and brake calipers.

The Forecast calls for great weather tomorrow, so hopefully the parents can bring the Solstice out, and we'll go find some fun roads to fly around together.

Very nice choice!
But I gotta ask, why the DSG over the standard 6-speed?

of you on an Auto-X course
