If i have kinks in my cat 5 cable would that cause my internet speed to drop?

The wire is still in tact, so no. Only interference will slow it down.

depends on how tight of a kink... If you tied it in a knot, yeah, it'* prolly broke. If you curved it around a coffee can, It'* fine. Why don't ya just pull out your known good tester? or grab a ohmmeter and test it....

Yes, Damemorder is correct. If it is tight like it got pinched good while it was slightly kinked it may be broken. If it is just a slight kink you should be good.

You have a digital camera don't you? Snap a quick pic and post it.

Another easy way to clean your connection is to click on the start button, click "Run", and type "ipconfig". I do this every time I think of it and has been known speed up my connection.
