New Lens, another camera to play with
My lens came in today. It'* a barely used Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4.0. It is replacing my kit lens which takes decent pictures, but nothing spectacular. This new lens takes great pictures. It supposedly rivals Canon'* L-glass. Along with this purchase, the guy I bought it off of threw in his old Canon Elan. It'll be a fun film camera to play with, and all my lenses will fit on it. 17mm on that camera is WIDE.
The Elan with my 50mm on it.
Yours truly with my new lens.
And this lens will be great for certain photo shoots with cars. I'm lookin your way Jeanie. :wink2:

Mighty sexy looking lens, Sol.
Speaking of old-school...
That'* my baby... the Minolta Maxxum 7000.
My parents bought it maybe a year or two before I was around, and I didn't know until just now that it was the first autofocusing SLR on the market. Great camera, it'* a pleasure to use.
I really should see if I can get lenses for it, I've only been using that stock lens all along.

Minolta Maxxum 7000
Lens:
50 mm f/1.8 (interchangeable)
Exposure Control:
Maximum shutter speed: 1/2000th sec
Battery: four AA
Dimensions (inches, WxHxD):
Weight (without batteries):
The Minolta Maxxum 7000 was the first autofocus SLR camera. (Although you don't need the auto-focus feature for a camera rocket.) It is an extremely reliable camera. It has an electrical shutter release cable so disassembly is not required for connection to the timing circuit and with a top shutter speed of 1/2000th second, the pictures are frozen with absolutely no blurriness. It has a built in motor drive at about 2 frames per second to capture many shots during the burn of the motor.
Three Minolta Maxxum 7000s flew on board my Level 3 certification flight My Mind'* Eye. They are no longer made but can be a great buy at a used camera shop.
