it'* rare for a MAC to get a virus, that is true. My high school used Mac'* for more than 8 years, and have never had an anti-virus program of anykind.. they have NEVER gotten a virus even once.

if i was going to program a virus, i wouldnt make it for mac. itd get across to maybe, 1/20th of the population. id rather go with PC and get the other 19/20ths. same reason macs suck. programs are made for PC thats turning a negative into a positive.

"Hm... no one makes software for our OS, how can we flip that around?"
"well... if no one makes software, then no one makes viruses either, right?"

I don't see how the processor has anything to do with that - it'd be the OS.

The IBM processor is what makes Macs different, once they go to Intel chips then it will be much easier to program software for them. I am not sure on the specifics, but its something about how it does computations. Someone who is more knowledgeable will be in here soon to straighten it out. I have seen the newest mac OS, and I dont think it is all that its cracked up to be. If you run a current version of XP and have Yahoo Widgets there is not much a Mac can do that you cant.

PCs get much MORE viruses, that'* the point of the virus commercial.

On a side note, I have more programs/software on my Mac than I will ever need.

Same goes for my PC.

Some viruses exploit 'holes' in the hardware, boot sector virus anyone?, most exploit holes in the OS.

Macs and Linux are gaining in popularity and as such they are attracting the attention of virus writers. I don't really feel that these other OS'* are THAT much more secure than WindozeXp, its just windows is target WAY WAY more often.
