Ok so it 25F after work. The Pk Ave has sat for 10 hours. If feels fairly cold outside and the windshield is well frozen over.
ok so I start the car, I pull the ice scraper out of the trunk, and begin scraping the front windshield.
Of course it is not long before I hear ker-snap and resort to the credit card.
I guess they don't make ice scrapers like they use to.
Now before I get into the car I thought you know the Park Ave is well insulated and wont be that cold in there..so I hop in...
The interior thermometer reads 27F ! I would rather sit in a refrigerator!
Even worse it took 20 minutes of running time to feel heat as the coolant temp finally reads 145F before I pull out.
The first time I grabbed the steering wheel, I thought I was going to get frostbite! So back in the trunk again to get some gloves
With the car ready to go, I back out of my spot at work the steering seems a bit stiff but no big deal, its the rubbing sound that makes me stop and get out...
Wouldn't you know it...The front passenger side tire is almost flat with 10 psi in it. So back in the trunk again, out comes the compressor to fill the tire!
So now I get going and want a smoke, so I go to roll down the driver'* window...NOT..it is frozen solid in the frame. (I give up )
I am use to driving the quiet Pk ave home & on this night all I could hear was the creaking & squeaking bushings & suspension and the compressor still running trying to pump the rear air shocks..let me guess the air is frozen in the lines!
Time to move to Florida!!!

My 94 Bonnie had auto start the previous owner had installed. I loved it on foggy/icy mornings. Hit the start button and hop in the shower. 20 min later I was on my way to work in a nice and toasty automobile

i would agree but you have to install it yourself, the "pros" use connectors and pinch on connectors that will make your car not start at all. you have to solder and heat-shrink every connection to make it reliable. the kids at the install shop just use whatever is fastest to get the car out of the shop and the next one in, they dont care if you are stranded somewhere.

Art, I'm surprised you haven't installed a block heater yet.

Ya Mike when I first got the PA I looked high and low for the block heater/not to be found.
I had thought about installing one but after winter testing without, the Buick starts easily with synthetics & a good battery even at -20. Unfortunately at work there are no plugins.
I am just going to have to get use to Ole man winter & hope we don't get 3 feet of snow soon, otherwise the Buick will get substituted real quick for the 4x4 anyways.
It is above freezing right now and off to work soon. I am going to get the silicone spray out and do the channels to hopefully allow the window to slide down, without being frozen.
I am also taking a larger sweater tonight !! LOL !

Good ole Winter, one of my favorite seasons, as long as I do not have to go outdoors for anything, lol
It is already 32F here, and supposed to drop a few more degrees before morning, good thing my water pipes are wrapped with electric heat tape.
In the winter I can hear my bushings or something creaking also, till it warms up anyway.
I was looking at snow on the radar yesterday, looks like NY had it the worst on the east coast, no surprise there though, NY Winters can be rough!

Trust me I know exsactly what you're talking about and it was one of the first things I did when I got the Bonnie was to go over the wiring. At the dealer I removed a ton of aftermarket crap from both customers and used cars. Most all were hack jobs.

Yeah I had to get ready for winter here in Ca as well. I took my jacket out of the closet and put my flip flops away

Must be rough, lol

Mother nature has already started her shenanigans over here too. Already had sub freezing temps this week.

Oh well, new tires on the car is worth its weight in gold around here when the weather turns to crap. Bring it on.

The Pk Ave after a clear night this morning looked like something from the arctic circle !
I swear the ice & frost was a 1/4 inch thick!
Note to myself, don't try to pull up on wiper blades when they are frozen to the glass or you will rip them apart! Doh!
New Bosh Icons now installed.
So I get it warmed up and to the gas station. Even though I used WD-40 two days earlier, Oops...key wont fit into locking gas cap, it is frozen solid!
So I sit there for 3 minutes with my thumb now warming the key hole.. shivering.
That did not work- still frozen..
So I pull out the warm transmission dip stick and use the warm synthetic DEX 6 fluid to drip into lock, finally get gas cap open/off.
When Is spring coming..
