compressing animated gif
As you can see, I have a new sig pic.. its 2mb [sorry 56k users]. The problem I have, is I have that fading out stuff, and that means I have 5 times the 5 images. Each pic I have is 60-65kB individually, but when you put them alltogether, you get 2mb. If I compress the individual image anymore, it because pixelated, and that looks like ****! If I bring the px down to 400x302, I can go a little further into the compression, but only like 30kB per image. I know that'* half, but I still think it'* too much. I'm working in photoshop, and image ready just in case it matters. If you guys think I should keep it as-is, please say so, but I know it'* too large a file.. and not everyone will agree on it.

I commend you on the hard work to put the animation together. And it looks great...
IMO, however, I find it distracting. It'* hard to read your posts when there'* continuous annimation below the text that'* being read.

haha. Yeah, my girlfriend agrees with vital. I guess I can see it being somewhat distracting, however after putting in an hour into it.. maybe I won't find it as distracting. I'll keep it up for the rest of the day, and see what everyone else'* opinions are. I'm open for suggestions on how to fix it [i'm probably going to remove the pic anyways], but something cool to take a pic of, or along those lines type of thing.

choose a crop size that will leave your car in most of the pictures but will make all the pictures smaller. LIke the pic of your car from the side, there'* a ton of space that is NOT your car. Crop it and get rid of it. See my sig pic? My car only took up about 25% of that picture. The original resolution was like 1280x900 or something so I cropped out the rest of the picture then lowered the resolution and compressed it by about 10%. That image is only like 13K but is still high quality. Maybe you could also try a different effect so it'* not so large. It doesn't bother me as I'm on broadband finally, but it is not fair for dialup users at all. Either get it below around 150-200k or don't have it on there at all is my oppinion.

I'd remove that until you can get it aroudn 50k. It'* annoying me and i'm on broadband, it'* slowing my computer down when i scroll and it'* changing. Mycomputer isn't the problem.
The fact of the matter is, is that it'* going to have to lose quality over a.jpg if you're going to want to include 5 pix, it'* unavolidable. It'* also huge...
