I've been following this one for a few weeks.
It started here....

Without studying the movie frame by frame (because I just really don't care that much) I would guess the wings failed, tore off, causing damage to the main body which weakened the rest.
Nice dramatic flight, though. I wish someone would have filmed the Y Wing launch...

I think the biggest issue was over engineering. They wanted the wings to move. They wanted to use 4 rockets. etc.
Static wings and one engine in the body, and it might have worked out a lot better

From the interview, they didn't expect it to work, anyways. There is too much force on those wings, and I doubt the weight was evenly distributed. The rockets seemed to launch flawlessly.

my buddy in Engineering class showed me this, and I didn't believe it, we searched for a while to find some more info on it but nothing...lol
i'll have to show him this!
