Get your car high on tequila or sugar
http://www.greenlaunches.com/alterna...a-or-sugar.php
Finding an ethanol gas station may become a thing of the past since most of us can easily make it in our back yards. E-Fuel founder and CEO Thomas Quinn thinks that such a day is soon to be. It looks like a cross between a gas pump and an old-fashioned refrigerator, but in reality it'* a home ethanol refinery. Connect it to a power source and a water source, add sugar "feedstock" and yeast or discarded alcohol (yes, that could mean last week'* tequila) and in a week it can produce 35 gallons of ethanol that Quinn said any car can run on.
The EFuel100 MicroFueler will cost $9,995, and it'll be available for customers in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Sounds like the people who drink alcohol can finally do something useful with it now!

Nice idea!!! I keep hoping they can take those zebra mussel shells that are causing hell throughout the great lakes, crush them and mix them with water for a new generation of fuel- seems I dream crazy stuff.....

What I'd like to see are cars powered by different sources of energy. An effort to help recycle and "throw away" our mistakes, that whole site shines light on stuff that I have never even heard of.
Apparently Bill Gates is now showing effort to help with our environment.
"...Now the world'* richest philanthropist is backing a new green revolution, and telling the world it should be 'greener than the first'..."
He claims in about 40 years we'll be a world that doesn't depend on any kind of harmful power. The Venus Project anyone?

Great idea but will never make it. Why? I'll give you 10,000 reasons. How much fuel do you need to make to recover that investment? I'll answer that, it don't matter, you wont make that much. Want to make that work? Sell the designs so people can make it them self.

That seems like a fairly low output, I have seen some 35 gallon redux stills that can make that much in hours, with about a 48 hour lead in time for getting the stuff fermented.

There are much more efficient ways to make E100 though.

All I'm saying is that the more we start implementing these ideas into our society the better off we'll be in the end. I'd rather not go out with a hailstorm of death balls that mother nature hurls at me while driving to work on a beautiful saturday morning... just saying.

Changing a car over is a bit involved, older cars have issues with rubber parts braking down. But the biggest issues with our cars is fuel injectors. On a stock or lightly modded engine you will need 42.5# injectors. You will need about 20% more fuel. This also causes a drop in mileage. These figures are with E85, E100 will be worse. Running on this stuff seems like the right choice, but what about the waste product from making the fuel. Another problem to consider is what if you need to drive on a long trip, then what? Switching back to gas is not as simple as filling it up.
