What I hate about VISTA
95% of my software wont work or run poorly under Windows vista. Loads of drivers are still unavailible or just faulty. Vista is great if you are starting fresh with all new hardware and software but if you are upgrading be careful.

Also look back at XP, I dont remeber ever 1/20th of the problems that vista is having. and the was way less normal users hating it.

your right, there are a lot more problems but i think a part of that is due to the increased number of people who use computers now as well. we hear more about them and the tech guys that fix everyones problems have a lot more people to help out. and, as the technology increases and they try to make things even more fancy and all that crap and they're bound to run into more problems. I don't really see Vista as such a pitfall (although it is a pain sometimes) but rather as the start of a new trend. Apple may be on top of their OS'* more but i wouldn't be suprised to see them in the same boat once the populairity rises.

Back in the day when memory was scarce, Windows was the way to go. The .dll (dynamic link library) files were a good thing, because then the system could run off of less memory. [ This was great for computers when 16MB of memory was all it came with ]. Apple back in the day had a hard time competing because their machines needed a lot of memory to run as smooth as an MS machine.
Nowadays, memory is generally a lot cheaper, and when the memory is quicker than the processing of an operating system, you can see flaws in the programming of the operating system. I am a mac user, but I also have my compaq at home. I run Windows XP and I do like it because it'* what I grew up on.
IMO I think MS needs to re-program to get away from .dll'* and more towards independent applications.
I really do like them both, and I work at Penn State fixing problems with both of them. I find that a Mac user has less to worry about security wise, but lacks in the gaming department. It was announced that some gaming companies are now making games for Mac because they now have Intel processors. I really hope microsoft gets it together, I do like their products.
Who knows what will happen.

I don't think it has anything to do with popularity, Apple is smart about stuff such as Leopard they released a beta to the certain people first for months, then eventually went public with it when they thought most bugs were worked out. Granted there was some bugs that I even noticed the firrst day it came out but it was fixed quickly within a couple of days and there is constant updates on the OS. (I dont notice any bugs now) I dont know the extent with Vista on their updates but obiviously they are not on top of it. Or it has soooo many bugs that they are behind. I dont know.
