The bedroom got repainted except for the floor, ceiling, and inside the closets, I installed a ceiling fan, and its getting a brand new Samsung 1080p 46" LCD TV, along with 5.1 surround, Polk Audio reference monitors with a Yamaha receiver, including all kinds of seating, chairs, couches, pillows, beanbags, etc. Already have a mini fridge there. If I have room, I'll make a mini bar as well.

We're also getting a basement cat. We already have a cat for our current bedroom upstairs, so now we'll have a basement cat and a ceiling cat.

If you haven't figured it out, this new room will be our bedroom/theater.

Got a lot done today with the bathroom. Caulked up the shower stall to fill in any gaps that were left open as well as the toilet base, installed a towel ring, toilet paper holder, and an accessory rack for the shower, put the toilet back together, and cleaned the toilet and sink.

I hate installing ceiling fans... I'll never do it again.

When I was a kid, I worked long hours as an apartment maintenance guy. My mom was the manager and we had a very good relationship with the owners. They let us cut a hole in the wall to put a door to the next apartment so we'd have more space when my little brother was born. Very nice people.

From when I was a little kid, my dad dragged me along to all of his jobs as a handyman (before he became a teacher), and that'* how I learned everything. My uncle also brought me along to plumbing jobs, so I learned practically everything.

While I worked at the apartments, I had the joy of renovating entire apartments. New paint, new ceiling fans in all of them, tear down the entire kitchen to allow new ones to be put up by contractors, install blinds, replace bathroom sinks, mirrors, light fixtures, install shower sliding doors, lay tile in kitchens and bathrooms, you name it, I've done it and can do it again, including building retaining walls from cinder blocks and concrete, and other construction work. I got so good at it, I could put up 2 sets of blinds in 25 minutes and a ceiling fan in 20 minutes. I did that work from the age of 13 to the age of 16, and paid for my 95 Regal and its insurance that way. That kind of experience comes in handy when you're on a tight budget and want to do a lot of work around the house.

The room needs a bit more work, like some carpet remnants cut up, sewed around the borders, and placed on the floors (basement floors are cold in the winter), a bunch of boxes need to be moved, and a bit of cleaning up.

I take a lot of pride in my sound system, spent a few years saving up for it and did a ton of research and I'm not talking retail demo units. I could have bought another used car with how much I spent on it all, but it was worth every dollar. I figure good sound systems last just as long if not longer than most cars anyway.
