Default Hey! WCBF past veterans! Pic for ya. ;)

So you've all heard that Oregon is flooding and floating away into the ocean. The willamette river crested at about a foot above flood stage this morning (3' lower than our big flood in '96).

Interesting stuff for the WCBF folks, you cannot get from Corvallis to the KOA on Highway 34 right now. Both bridges at Corvallis are closed down. After crossing over the 'out' bridge, you immediately drive through the river. It'* across Highway 34 right now. The only way to the KOA at this point would be to drive Hwy 20 through Albany and come back from the other way.

Paul, a special one for you. I'm parked right behind your Motel. At the end of the walking/biking path. As I shot the pic, your hotel was directly behind me:

Just got this on email: (rain has let up some, but is due to start again tonight and through the weekend)

To: All Site Employees

From: REWS Emergency Mgmt

Hello everyone,

Please read below for updates on the flooding from Benton County Emergency Mgmt. Critical elements from the message are Highway 34 is still closed and it is UNLIKELY to be re-opened for the after-work commute. If we get word of Highway 34 re-opening, we will send another notification. Please notice the web links and phone numbers for updated information from Benton County Public Works, Linn County, and ODOT.

Thanks,

Kevin Harding, MS

Subject: FYI: Willamette at Corvallis and Albany Has Crested, Receding Slowly

Update: The Willamette River at Corvallis and Albany has crested and is forecast to fall below flood stage at Albany and Corvallis later this afternoon. The river is forecast to continue receding for the next couple of days.

Hwy 34 east of Corvallis and the Corvallis Hwy 20/34 bypass is still closed to all traffic and not anticipated to reopen until late today at the earliest and only after the road way is evaluated for damage. It is unlikely that Hwy 34 will be reopened for the after-work commute tonight. Plan to take an alternate route and to be very patient in your travel tonight.

Alternate routes to Corvallis until the Hwy 34 reopens:

² From Albany/Lebanon: Hwy 20 from through North Albany – VERY congested, slow, reports of 90 minutes to 2 hours from Albany to Corvallis or 99E south to Junction City, then north on Hwy 99W through Monroe

² From Salem: Hwy 22 to Hwy 99W through Rickreal and Monmouth

² From Eugene: Hwy 99W through Junction City and Monroe

Road closure and high water information:

Linn County: http://www.co.linn.or.us/Roads/RoadClosures.asp or telephone(541) 967.3919

Wow, I didn't think anyone got any more rain than us on the Coast.
We're OK here unless the ocean rises.
The tide variation every 12 hrs is about 16 feet where I live regardless of rainfall.

Hey maybe you can get a better rate at that Holiday Inn for us now.
