Interesting.

The only problem I have with this list is the definition "problem" -- which might as well range anywhere from a squeaky door handle all the way to catastrauphic engine failure...

The average of all the numbers on that list comes out to 232, so I'll use that as my average.

Grouping these numbers by geographical source (American, European, Japanese, Korean), and, just for nostalgia'* sake, considering Chrysler to be American and Volvo, Saab and Jaguar to be European, we come up with:

American: 212 (-9% versus average 232)
Japanese: 231 (+0% vs avg)
European: 257 (+11% vs avg)
Korean: 258 (+11% vs avg)

Even if we take Ford-vo, Ford-uar, and Sob away from Europe, we have:

American: 218 (-6% vs avg)
European: 260 (+12% vs avg)

Let'* be fair and let Europe take the fall for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep:

American: 215 (-8% vs avg)
European: 253 (+9% vs avg)
(That actually helps Europe...isn't that a sad thought )

Wow, so any way you slice it, American makes, as a group, have the best reliability?
I wish car buyers knew that .

Wanna forward those numbers to appropriate editors and car magazines?
