Default Motherboard repair

Does anyone know a reliable place to have a laptop motherboard repaired? Something popped on the motherboard on my laptop and I'm not interested in fishing out $500 to $600 for a replacement (Dam HP.... Sorry Bill). So far no luck on E-Bay either....

I'll but the board if needed and ship it.

i don't think there'* any big companies that do that, you will most likely have to find a local computer repair shop.. no warranty?

you should be able to find a cap kit for it. Most mb failures are leaky capacitors

You can get a new dell with a 17" screen for a tad over $600....HPs prices probably the same.. It might be cheaper to sell of the unit for parts on ebay and put that money toward a new system.
Inspiron 1720
(System Identifier: FX94RGVJ)
System Price : $629.00
Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 (1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs)Hard Disk Drive
120 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)Video
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capabilityNetwork Interface Card
17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Notebook Screen
http://outlet.dell.com

I'd look around on ebay for a while with a unit with a smashed screen....probably about the same price as a motherboard.

Can you renew the warranty on the HP?

Thanks for all the replies... Never been a big Dell fan... (Sorry Hans ) I really like the HP I I'd like to either buy another one or fix what I've got. I'm trying to keep my expenditures under the $300 mark as it'* a year old and I'll like it to get me by for another year or two. I'm thinking the link Haro sent may be my best bet.
