lets say u have 2 kids near the same age and its one of their birthdays do u buy both kids a gift so the other doesnt get mad. personally i say no. but my girlfriends aunt does this she has 3 kids 9, 8, 4 if one has a birthday they all get atleast 1 gift. why? is it so they dont get all mad and start crying?

For a kid under the age of 5, maybe a simple gift under the 10 dollar range. Otherwise no. Kids have to uderstand they don't always get their way, or they'll constantly push the limits.

The idea of celebrating ones birthday gives the children something to look forward to. It is their special day. I think ONLY the birthday child should get a present. Anything over that is too much and the children will start to expect that from everyone.

I would say no, do not buy each child a present. Birthdays are special to each individual child. If a parent buys a gift for each child, whether it is a big gift or not, it takes the whole special feeling away from the child whose birthday it actually is.

ohhh man, I could go for hours on this subject. I firmly feel that children SHOULD have thier special day and the other kids can learn that its not all about them. My wife'* family (mostly monster in law and grandmonster in law) feels that kids should be spoiled at every turn. Gifts for Valentines day, gifts for Easter, Gifts for 4th of July...GEESH. And at Christmastime? We all know how big the empty trunks of our H-bodies are. One year...from HER family, keep in mind we have just 2 kids...we had to make TWO trips to get all the presents home. The first trip was a trunkful, second trip was just my wife driving with trunk and back seat full. I finally put my foot down about some of that.
BUT yes..its VERY easy to get carried away with gifting the kids all the time, might drop a bug in the ear about how valuable TIME is to kids, as opposed to a toy thats forgotten about in 12 hours
