I have a 91 GMC Sonoma with the 4.3 and it may not get the best gas mileage but it is reliable and has a lot of torque.

I don't know, I've not ridden in the truck since I was 14 or so.

So far as I know, he hasn't driven it for years. It'* been garaged. He likes his '03 Grand Marquis better

You may be looking to spend $700 or so to get the truck road ready. My dad'* Sonoma was only driven up and down the driveway to get the mail for the past three years and I needed to do a tune up, replace the tires, replace the shocks, and replace the exhaust system. I also dropped another $100 into it for wiper blades, floor mats, engine temp sensor and other minor items. Basically for less than $1,000 I have a low mileage reliable daily beater.
