Why do every older Lincoln Continental's a$$ sags?

Default Why do every older Lincoln Continental'* a$$ sags?

I've seen a whole buncha of them and all of those Continentals (I'm not sure what year) but they're definitely older and I've seen the butt sag a lot, sometimes several inches off the ground WHILE they're driving it. What gives? This has puzzled me for a long time, has anyone seen those Lincolns driving around?

Oh yeah, early to mid eighties Continentals. My theory is that their air rides have given out, and normal hydraulic bouncers don't exist for them. I have also seen the FWD Continentals with the same problem, but if memory serves, they ride on the same platform the Taurus does, so there is at least a way out for them.

yep 88 thru 94 rode of 4 air bags with no other type of shock or spring. When one goes the back or front will drop straight down. Chassis will sit on some rubber mount and give you one heck of a bouncy ride. The 95 and up at least had some springs as well and in 98 you could get a regular suspension instead of the airbags if you so chose to.

It was a marketing thing thunked up years ago.
You know how the g-thugs like lincolns? Well, they need to be saggin to be wit-it, so these cars are actually designed to sag after so many years.
I saw one lincoln that sagged in the front, I thought the guy was trying tog-sag, but he said something about the suspension airbags giving out...
It was some old guy, like the guys who would be driving a model T.

that'* just retarded. atleast the GM system rides just fine even when the air shocks give out. The GM system is genius compared to that one. lol.

Why wold Lincoln design something with such a flaw? I thought that Lincoln was like Ford'* version of a cadillac?
Anything designed to be inflated WILL eventually leak air, especially something that helps support a 4,000 pound machine.

Most Gms have air leveling shocks which is completly different than full air bag suspension. Some GM cars did get the same or similar system to the lincoln and they drop just as low when the shock pop. I drove an olds 98 thatn had the air bag ride system.

All out Aurora Bonnevilles and such have is basic over the counter air shocks. Cadillac has the new magnetic ride system to replace airbags and I think that is the best system I have seen to date.

Our Seville'* rear end is sagging to the ground. It acutally looks much more sporty with the rear end lowered. But damn it makes a hard thud when you go over a large bump. It makes me nervous and im looking to get it fixed (better be cheap!!!)
