Default power surge

i think i had a surge or my reciver and my gamecube both died. my wife tryed to turn the stereo to watch tv (everything is wired threw the reciever) but it wont turn on i even tryed to plug into another all jack and still nothing. well i cant find the warrenty for the surge protector and their closed anyways.

both power and surge lights are on and the only problem i think im gonna have with the manufacture that my cats like to chew my wires ( ) and they chewed the power wire, they chewed it so bad wire is showing. wouldnt they have been shocked? why would only my reciever and gamecube die and not anything else?

I would think the bare chewed wires may have shorted itself out at some point making the reciever junk. Did you check the transformer inside the reciever? Look for burnt points or leaky capacitors on the board.

The guilty cat would have gotten a jolt if it did get to the wire. It makes me think of Chevy Chase Christmas movie where the cat fried under the chair. Good luck getting it all fixed. Put some kind of chili powder on the cords or perhaps they sell something for that purpose.

My work has had to replace a few hundred dollars worth of equipment in the past few days due to storms and stuff. I wouldn't be supprised if the power supplies are blown.

exposed wires = VERY bad.
