Default Those 3.9L V6 sounds impressive...

I was talking to Elmacho and we were discssing the engines and I commented on how nice it would be to have a 3.9L V6. They produce 242 hp and 242 lb/ft. What'* most remarkable is that there is no hp drop off as the rpm get higher and the torque curve is pretty flat. Elmacho found a dyno of the 3.9 and I don't have it, I'll look for it and post it here.

Your thoughts? Is it fast? Smooth etc. I've never driven one, they sound impressive so I wanted to know your opinions.

I have the 3.5 variant. The new 3.5 and 3.9'* are modernized 3.4'*. Both are drive by wire. I can tell you that my 3.5 is very quick compared to the 3.4 I had in my Monte Carlo, very responsive and feels like it has alot more torque in the low end. But the exhaust crossover pipes are way too small for it, and hopefully I can find an exhaust shop that will remedy that for me when my car goes out of warranty. Other than the size difference, the 3.9 also has a variable intake manifold and has the DOD system, and can be found in the Monte Carlo/Impalas and the Malibu SS (which I hope to be getting at the end of the year).

I've driven a G6 GTP w/ the 3.9, quick car, very nice. Didn't have the same off-the-line pull as my Bonne, but it would walk my car after about 40 feet. Very responsive, and fun as hell with the 6spd.

3.5 doesn't sound like crap...it has no sound. You should see all the exhaust bends underneath my malibu. Not good for performance at all.

The 3900 is a awesome engine for being a NA pushrod. I am amazed at its performance.

I thought the 5.3 V8 was the only engine that had Displacement On Demand. Does the 3.9 really have it?

Hmnmm... no the 3.9 doesn't have DOD. Just a variable intake manifold and I believe VVT.
