I have started watching the Aussie V8 super car series on the Speed channel to help me get over my NASCAR fix. NASCAR it is NOT, but I am starting to appreciate it a little more.
My point to all this is that all the cars seem to look like this. Maybe I am a bit jaded by American "style" and can't see the forrest through the trees. Hell, even in NASCAR, all the cars are starting to look the same. With this coming seasons common template, the manufacturers sticker is about all that separates them.
I guess I am growing weary of the "international" look that so many cars on the road have today. Until I can see one in person, sit in it and smell the leather or better yet, fire it up and feel the ponies, I just can't get excited about it yet.

This has got to be a joke. Please tell me that these are nothing more than a bad attempt at using Photoshop. I would hope that Pontiac could send us an "agressive" GTO. This thing looks a lot like a Honda Accord or an Acura CL.

I have to agree with Complinitor on the styling, it looks like a Civic SI coupe thats been dipped in gold (ie higher trim level with more mouldings etc.)
I'm less then impressed. But at the same time it is better then the attempted redesign of the Cavalier/Sunfire front end...yikes!!!
It may not appeal to the traditional buyer with an appreciation for North American style, but a younger crowd will easly get into this vehicle.
Younger crowd...I'm the demographic that they are pitching too....23 year old males...hmmm, didn't work, I don't want one.

Gotta agree guys, doesn't look like a muscle car to me....more like a GM attempt to capture some of the ricer market :( or it could be directed at the 5L Mustang ...hmmmm with a 5.7L 6 speed it would kick *** can't wait for the auto show and get~~up close and personal

Back when the first glimpses of this new generation GTO were released on the Pontiac website, I emailed them (Pontiac) and told them how disappointed I was over the lack of agressive looks. This will be the first GTO without a scoop. I suggested at the time to incorporate some of the classic GTO styling ques such as the hood tach (even though it was only an option on 1966-1971 GTO'*), the Scoops (even though most are not functional on the classic GTO'*), the badge (which as you can see now says 5.7 litre instead of 6.5 litre--but at least it is there), and the rear spoiler. I also suggested looking at the classic rectangle tail lights and more pronounced "beak".
On the positive side, if this goes over, it will mean more GTO'* in the future with possible features listed above incorporated into production. This also ensures that the Pontiac tradition of having at least one V-8 will be revived after a one-year break. I hope the rumors are true about more V-8 RWD Pontiacs.
On a side note, I love the six-speed manual tranny. Hey Ty, is there anything in the works for a manual tranny for our Bonnevilles? Hector? Anyone?
