Pop ups? That doesn't sound right. Has anyone else had popup problems. What are the pop-ups for? Ads?

I have never had this problem on BC. Jeff?, Bill? is this possible?

I work on computers for a living and we have noticed a HUGE wave of these comming thru. It'* not BC but rather programs called "spy-ware". They track your web habbiits and then try to show you promotions that it thinks "you might like". It is annoying as hell. I haven't seen it show up 40 times in a row (a virus maybe?) but it does come up frequently.

Go online and download Ad-aware and use this to help clean up your system. This will only clean it, not protect it. I am haveing similar issues with everything reappearing. At work, we are tracking down the servers that these programs download from and we are blocking hem. When I find out the server names I will post them so everyone who hates those popups can finally stop them.

I agree with SSEi95 -- the problem is spyware. Probably the best-know spyware program is Gator, which, among other things, is installed with Kazaa.

BC does not have, nor has it ever had, advertising. Trust me, I hate pop-ups too.

The one that is poping up more than Gator now is "U-Save". Gator is relatively easy to get rid of but U-Save barries itself in the regesrty nice and deep. These apps are generally activated when the internet is opened on a pc. They disguise themselves as popups so you don't know that they are actually on your local pc keeping track of your web habbits. Gator will generally prompt you for it'* install but U-Save will do it all in the background without your permission using your system account.

Run the Ad-Aware and you'll be surprised at how much it finds, and how fast the apps seem to come back after a little online surfing.

Does this happen only with BC? and the pages that open, are they the same as the one closed or another page? What if you type in a new address in the same adress bar, does it still open up more screens? Have you tried it with the popup stopper software turned off?

My techie nature takes over and starts to ask lot of questions.

Sounds strange...try the ADWARE program...it works pretty good...otherwise try raising your security on your firewall..I HAD these prob'* before too...but not with the BC windows....GOOD LUCK

I'm getting an entirely new type of pop-up window lately. They are sending messages through windows actually by using my IP address and they are sending it directly to teh computer using text boxes (like warning messages you might get from windows) and they send you messages using that. That is even worse knowing they can hack into windows and make it send you messages.
