I live in Lancaster, Ohio. Apparently, the ODOT of that section did not graduate from high school.

Example one: There is a road nearby that is horribly pitted and uneven. A section of a rocky mountain pass could be considered smoother than this road. People wanted that road to be repaired so the city decided to paint new lines on it.

Example two: Painting lines again. This was on Fair Avenue, the road itself is in good shape but new lines was needed. I was driving along and got stuck in traffic. I just happened to look down. What did I see? New road lines, I thought "that'* nice" until I saw a roadkill (raccoon to be exact) with two crisp yellow lines painted right over it.

Example three: Lines again. They were painting new lines somewhere (not sure where). The workers painted new lines but then sealed in a crack right over the fresh line they just painted.

Please tell me I'm not alone?

They did this to a squirrel right in front of my parents house.


I also like it when they come to fix a pothole and just dump in some hot patch, no compacting or anything. Then 2 days later it is back the way is was, and the next week they are right back out there doing the same thing again. You'd think they'd figure out that the need to just fix it right....

My town, Weyauwega, WI. Well...it has a population of 1806, umm, there really, honestly is nothing else to tell about it. theres noone here, and no one really cares. nothing happens, ever. in fact, i think only 3 of our streets actually HAVE road lines, so no line stories...umm, they're rebuilding alfred street? thats about it.

Twin falls is the shopping/industry center of a micopolitan area known as the magic valley which consists of the following smaller towns:

Big Bridge, big waterfalls.....also twin falls, even though only has a population of around 40,000 has the busiest traffic intersection in Idaho, blue lakes and pole line which the DMV reports 93,000 cars pass thru per day.

...never had roadkill painted...would need paved roads for that. (kidding...there'* only three roads I know of that are seasonal and not paved). One gas station...prices are high.5 bars within 5 miles of each other. 6 churches in the same area. Not sure who gets more patronage. Nearest Walmart is 25 mins away... but we have Burt Dam and Olcott, Ny for fishing. Folks come from miles around for that. Everyone either knows your name or your family. As a parent it'* great...the kids can't get away with anything. Then again, my parents always find out what I do.

Hmmm...well I live in Portage, IN but nothing ever happens here. The biggest thing is young kids doing stupid stuff. Like tee-peeing houses etc.

But in Gary, IN where I work....lemme tell ya. Horrible roads, they flood so bad just from a normal rain, condemned houses, burnt out houses, gun shots about oooh 3-4 times a day, drug deals on street corners, yeah it'* a lovely place to be Oh and in 1995 (or around there) it was the murder capital of the world It'* not the whole city of Gary, just the majority that is bad. And the most AWESOME part!!! Micheal Jackson grew up here :(

Our roads suck. They never repave the backroads so they're all cruddy. There is 1 4-lane highway that goes through the center of town. It had a bunch of cracks in it so the city decided to pour tar in them, every last one of them, and the tar sits about .5 inch about the road surface, so as you're driving all you hear is "thump thump thump thump" all the way through town *about 5 miles, not terribly huge*. We have a Walmart, three grocery stores, and about every fast food place there is. We also have about 10 gas stations *we have repeats, 3 shell stations!* and all of them except the Raceway have the same prices. Raceway is "low quality" and is usually about 3 cents cheaper, that'* where I get mine at. Nobody shops in Elberton. We go to Athens. It'* worth the 1/8 tank of gas and 30 minute drive.

Pretty much a bunch of "back roads" around here....pretty much fix the road the way Chinski explained!! What I hate is the fact that when they don't compact the patches....I always get a barrage of tar bits spitting up on my cars

Not just my town, but I think the MN critters have turned suicidal.

Two weekends ago, I hit a pigeon that just refused to fly away. It certainly wasn't intentional, but I was the middle car in three lanes of traffic. No way to swerve around him, so I had to leave a puff of gray feathers in my wake....

Then, last weekend down in Mankato, coming back from the Fun Run/Gun gathering trip, maybe 100 feet from Seth'* driveway, there was a rabbit in the road that just sat and stared at me until I hit him.

If they animals are going to turn suicidal, I sure wish they wouldn't pick me to play Kevorkian for them. I hate hitting critters. It makes me feel bad (But I ain't wrecking my car to save them, either)
