Default Please help me subvert my want to blowup this box....

I've got this AMD K6-2/400Mhz.... It had a 3g master a 2g slave and a 52x CD-ROM, I got a 80g to throw in, but it would freeze on POST. I read the directions and set the jumper to limit it to 32g, I want the whole 80g but can't figure that one out... and anytime I try to download anything, webpages, files, anything, it freezes. Also if i let it idle it freezes. What is wrong?

This is all I know about it:
AMD K6-2/400Mhz
SiS530 onboard
Geforce MX 5200
80/32g Primary Master
2g Secondary Master
52x Cd-rom Secondary Slave

Have you tried with only the 80 gig. There may be a conflict. What about IDE cables as well? Have you tried other cables?

Yes, I tried just the 80/32g, and with four different cables.

I just checked, everything is auto, and LBA is on for the 80/32g as per Seagates' instructions

Is the drive addressed as 32 in the BIOS, or is it just in the OS?

Can you partition the drive on another machine? The newest BIOS possible?

The box will not boot with it as 80g master or slave, it has Award BIOS 4.51PG Modular, I doubt Mom'* P2 266Mhz will recognize the full 80g either.

first off update the bios old systems werent meant for an 80gig even with cylinder limations in place, as for why it freezes all the time it might be a faulty drive controller or drive for that matter
