I am in need of a enclosed trailer to move across country. I will be pulling the trailer with my F-350. Note my F-350 is bare bones. It does not have dually. no diesel.

Here are my truck specs for weight/ towing:

Weights: gross vehicle weight rating (lbs) 10,500, curb weight (lbs) 6,162, gross trailer weight braked (lbs) 5,000 and max payload (lbs) 4,200

I am struggling finding a trailer. They are very high priced used, and hard to measure value and quality. Found this trailer on Craigslist and it seems weird, would appreciate your thoughts...

your truck wont be happy hauling that across country. enclosed trailers have alot of wind drag you have to factor in. but if you got to go and thats all thats available, then you got to do what you got to do. if you are filling it with crap pay attention to front to back weight should be 10% front heavy. weight distribution hitch would be incredibly helpful as well.

i dont see unloaded specs on their site but i bet its 5k empty so that only leaves 5 before you are over the trucks capacity

I am confused on the weight ratings. When I read the specs, I thought it was indicating the max the trailer could weigh, with contents was 6,162 pounds. I hope I am wrong.....

6K seems light for a F350. Heck my s10 can tow 5k.

I am at 10k. And looking at the guide, I am limited due to engine size, not necessarily spring/suspension size.

and those lists are assuming weight distribution normally if you look at your hitch it will say like 6k/12k WD so if you get a bumper pull trailer you will have to get a weight dist hitch. i suggest you get whats called a dual cam hitch, ive got the reese which is expensive but i got it for half price with my trailer, other brands have cheaper just as good hitches like curt. the setup has anti sway by its design and is way nicer when you get any kind of cross wind. of course the ultimate if you can afford it would be a fifth wheel or goose neck, they haul strait half the time to unhook and you have the extra room over the truck "free"

there is always something wrong with the trailers i look at the ones i liked were too expensive, the ones that were affordable didnt meet my needs or exceptions. i just ended up building what i need. ive built two its not that hard.

Thanks again. I am under time constraint, so building is not a option. About to go look at the one in the ad. I am the high bidder on this trailer, but my max is $4300 so I am sure I will lose the bid. Dealer told me he would take 5k, but this dealer charges taxes, fees, etc so 5k comes to about $5700.

I have been watching trailers on Craigslist for about 3 weeks. Not one has sold, but everyone seems to be asking almost "new" price for trailers that are often 10-15 years old. I won't pay anything near that. So it makes it a lot of work to find a realistic seller.

that trailer is alot better air profile and condition wise. also first time i have seen the side door like that one of those simple genius ideas. you normally need to do some kind of circus trick to get out of the car once its in. also it looks lighter so that would be better for your truck i wish they would list empty weight im not sure why they wouldnt list that being so important

do you plan on selling it once you get done? i would think that one is a pretty good value too i dont think you would have a problem getting 5k back out of it.
