DVD player advice
So my DVD player is beginning to show signs of age.
It'* a Pioneer Elite DV-05 that is 7 years old. It was a very expensive unit at the time ($1,000) but now it is very sensitive to skips and freezing.
It plays CD'* but if the bass is turned up it will go into freeze mode.
Any recommendations of a good new unit? I have to have the frame by frame advance feature......for those particularly gory scenes.

have you considered checking out blu-ray and hd-dvd players? depending on your home theater setup that would be a good route to go. there'* some nice products available from Sony, Panasonic, and Toshiba. look to spend $500-1200...

Yeah, I wouldn't touch Blue Ray or HD DVD right now. 50-50 chance of ending up with a beta-max deal....
Unfortunately, that'* all the advice I have right now. My DVD/VCR combo, while not new or top of the line, does everything I need so I haven't looked at the new players

I think it will be more 80 - 20 in favour of Blue-ray.
