My preference is a Linksys G based router.
It has the old B stuff and the speed of the newer stuff w/o going into the A standard that appears not to be catching on as manufacturers hoped.
I'm sure D Link would work just as good though.

You'll gain another power cord..
Wireless is nice though.
Add Skype (thanks Hans) to your aresenal..and life is really good for chatting with BC'rs
