What camera is that?

Also why do some folks here still use old fashioned cameras? My mom has a digital SLR, thing kicks ***.

Sol, you have such great talent! I just upgraded my camera and am looking forward to taking some pics. I just hope mine come out 1/2 as good as yours do.

Using my Canon Powershot A75 absolutely cannot compare to using my Minolta Maxxum 7000. Doesn't matter if it'* film or not. A75 = strictly point and shoot.

But if you're willing to send me the $1100 or so it takes to get me a D-SLR just like Sol'* (I <3 the Canon 300D), I'll be more than happy

I see the pics now, and well, the sharpness and vibrance of these pics is just awesome. Combine that with a good eye, and we've got yet another situation in which Sol makes me go "wow"

SLR'* are great. The 300D still has auto modes too for the beginners, which its basically a point-shoot camera, but you won't get shots like I took above. I shoot everything in Aperture-value mode, meaning I control the aperture, and the camera decided what shutter speed to use. I also use center-point focusing, so I choose where it focuses, and I also control the ISO.

Yeah, I go as far as the A75 as to turn off the Ai-AF (so yeah, centre-point focusing), and I kind of have to keep the ISO setting at 50/Auto due to the fact that there'd be hideous amounts of noise otherwise. It also goes from f/2.8-8.0, so I don't have very much range to work with, so I let it automatically pic exposure settings :(

As for the Minolta, I only have the option of centre-point focusing, and there are some buttons I just hit ("up" or "down") to control the aperture, and it automatically takes care of the shutter speed. Plus, the sound of the shutter and film advancing

Noise control is decent on the 300D. From 100 to 400 there is little to no noise. 800 there is a little bit. 1600 is noticeable.

If I upgraded to the 20D, I could shoot at 800 all the time and nobody would know it.

400:

Although, on another day, my brother and I brought a tripod (just ask Jim, Murdock, or Tamara, lol) and got "what the ****, these guys BROUGHT A TRIPOD?!" remarks from people at the show 50ISO, 1/13s @ f/2.8 for a lot of the show.
