Default So Watched This Past Week'* Topgear (America)

the $1000 car challenge, where they took them moonshine running.

I have to say while I think this version of the franchise has alot of potential, I was a bit disapointed in this episode. Those were the best vehicles they could find for $1000?! Come on.

First, as a Jeep guy I have to say I can find a number of Cherokee'* with the 4.0 for that budget, in fact I've owned a couple for just that price that would completely mop the floor with any of the three they had in the driving challenges they went through (I say "driving" because I'll give the Caddy as being more comfortable to spend the night in).

Now as this is a GM forum, I have to say there are a number of Bonnevilles to be had for $1000 which ,having Bo Duked my old Bonne around plenty, would have been perfectly suited for those tasks.

When the Brits came over for their southern states road trip on $1000 cars, I thought their choices were a little weak but I cut them some slack. Send me to Europe and I doubt I'd do as good picking out and old clunker. But come on guys, I expected so much more from our guys, next time give me a shot I'll show you how to do it.

It was funny, but ya, better cars for that amount. Those were more like $500 cars.

oh yeah don't get me wrong, I thought it was funny and entertaining. Rutledge is hilarious, and I'm sure with time the chemistry will be almost as good as the BBC presenters (although Tanner gets under my skin a bit).

But yeah Dan, when we were watching that episode my wife commented on how those cars were more like $500 cars too.

I honestlythink the southern road trip that the bbc version did was hilarious and gives me ambition to go through alabama with liberal slogans on a car, which might result in the cause of my death after seeing what happened with them but i think ill use a real car that could outrun a few Rams and f-150'*

I agree, that was one of my favorites of the BBC series (I think the Bolivia special is my number one fav) hilarious and well done, with the exception thatany number of us could have rolled up with any number of better carsfor $1000

Don't forget, the red necks arrived. And, I just remembered, I have plenty of gas.
