Has anyone ever used this?
I signed up a few days ago to check my credit score, because i was looking to get a loan.
It said my credit score was 712, which is pretty good.
So i went to my credit union to apply for the loan, and the lady looked up my credit score and she said it was 675. because it was so low i would have to have a comaker for the loan. Is FreeCreditReport.com off that much all the time?
Thankfully the only reason it is low is because i am so young. There is nothing bad on my credit report. But after i take this loan out and pay it off she said my score should go up.

Yeah.... Freecreditreport.com is the same one that told my dad he had a 745 credit score, so we went to trade the Durango in on a '04 Impy SS, and they had come back to say his score was only 575.

You can run the reports and won't count against you...so long as YOU are the one requesting them (as in through your bank or through any of the credit reporting agencies).
I've been trying to rebuild my credit for quite some time (divorce really killed it), and though I make payments on my home on time, every time...and my car payment on time, every time for well over a year now...it aint even over 600 yet. Yet my sister, who filed for bankruptcy back in Feb of this year, is in the 700s.
I'm kinda spooled up over that.

i've used free credit report before and it was accurate, as far as i can tell anyhow. i used it to check because a friend of mine had a minor credit scare that he noticed when he used the same reporting service... i don't think its that usefull though and really overpriced.

Free to view your credit report once every 12 months, which I believe is some sort of government regulation.
It costs a little extra to see your actual credit score, but the report is free, and I believe there is an option to keep it available for 30 days so you can go back too it.
The best part is, you dont have to enroll in anything.
