Let'* buy an island!
Adeianos and I have been chatting about it. I'm sure if we get everyone together on this, we can buy a private island! I suggest Bonneîle as the name, but Adeianos has a couple others like SSEisland and perhaps Bonnevillestan.
So, this is how we do it:
We need to get a fund started, and then for even as little as less than $20,000, we can have our own Bonneville island. I like Adeianos' suggestion of a museum on it. That would be cool. Of course, a drag strip and a road all the way around it would be pretty much necessary. There are several sources online, and some tiny, tiny islands can sell for as little as $20! Just $20.00, and the island is yours! You'll probably never see it, and the one I'm thinking about is flooded more than a half a year each year.
So a bigger place is necessary. Let me know what you think.

Sure. Anyway, check this out:
http://www.privateislandsonline.com/mcgibbon-island.htm
That'* 6.25 acres, and it'* almost close enough. That could easily have a nice driving track, though I don't know if 0.009765625 square miles is good enough for a drag strip.
I'm serious about this if you are. Where'* the site'* treasurer?

It'* preventative maintenance, and you need to do it.
For $49,000, we can get a 22.5 acre wooded island with power and telephone lines, a 1.22 acre wooded peninsula, and 1000 feet of shoreline all together. DRAG STRIP.
Bonnevillestan is out of the question, I take it?

Look, the drag strip isn't the only thing that needs to be on the island. And you can fly cars over as well, but it would be cheaper to sail them over. Plus, that would make for some interesting brake checks before racing to the edge at 120 MPH! Cool background for the money shots, too. I think the feature should be the combo museum/hotel/tool shop. Depending on where this island is and how the international bridge laws go, we could have a bridge from it to Canada, the US, or Australia.

Hah...honestly, as nutty as this sounds...an investment in something like this could be very good for the club. Im a finance major, lol. Aside from a retreat for Bonneville lovers, if you purchased an island large enough you could turn it into a small, exclusive, private vacation destination. Possibly for rich car enthusiasts (Jay Leno anyone?)
Interesting idea guys...and as CRAZY as it really sounds, if you look at it...its not really a bad idea. The best idea would be to start a corporation, or land trust, in which BC.com members could purchase stock ownership. The company would own the land in it'* entirety, and in turn BC.com members would own the company. I think it would make more sense than each member owning a specific parcel of the land, because of the size restriction. If 500 people got in, your parcel of land would be tiny.
Additionally, if it were a corporation, the owners financial liability would be LIMITED. i.e. if the company ran into a large amount of debt, they couldnt go after personal assets and such, only assets owned by the company. Im interested in this guys, keep it going.

Very good! Great to know we have more support! I will make & host the site and provide some donation buttons and other information. We right now need about $5 or so from every single member of the club, and then an island in the Nova Scotia area is ours! I believe most of the people here aren't too active, so it'* probably going to be more per person. But if we could get just over 9000 people to give $5, we'd have an island with 9000 land pieces. That'* cool.
