Well, I went to Newegg.com to screw around. I checked inventory on everything, so at the moment, this is 100% realistic! Well... 110% Realistic!!!

My goal was to set up a parts list for an absolutely overkill computer all self contained inside one case, excluding a monitor and any input devices. The parts have to be available to consumers in general, and this has to be able to function as a gaming computer, aside from the heavy duty word processing you can do! What'* your dream PC? Newegg links are not necessary. I just used that site for some really quick and easy navigation.

The USB cable for this needs to be routed into the case to free up a rear USB port. You can then plug in your 2 SATA to USB adapters for the Blu-Ray drives (Will this run the Blu-Ray transfer rates?) and sound card. Route the sound output cables to the rear I/O panel, which has plenty of room up top. The power adapter brick needs to be taken away and have its 5V plug spliced into any red and black wires coming out of the power supply.

This, shipped to my house, is $10,693.19. If I were to skip out on the 48GB option and get less, I wouldn't at all break 10 grand. It'* also too bad the motherboard has only one slot, the single video card slot. It should have more expansion room for some SATA/SAS cards and such.

So, this would get me an octacore, an 8800 Ultra, RAID 5 for 5000GB of space and backup, 48GB of memory, probably insufficient water cooling, maybe an insufficient power supply, which is hard to believe, and 5.1 channel surround sound. There are better things to buy, I'm sure, but I couldn't make sure they'd run flawlessly with almost any Windows/Linux/BSD OS I could throw at them. I'm not sure on the sound adapter yet, but at least it'* not an M-Audio for twice the price and driver hassles.

So, what'* your absurd PC build? Imagine that if you were to have the money, but you feel bad because there are starving children out somewhere, it'* actually all the starving kids in the world offering you the choice of either the money for the PC or you watching this money burn. The kids would stay away from the fire so as not to benefit from the heat, too. You have to buy the computer!

Don't really have much time to make a whole new build, just wanted to add on to yours...

You said outrageous. That is a Mac Pro with every single option available. If I was rich, that would be my computer.

These are awesome responses! Petraman, you might be CPU limited with 4 8800s and 2 dual core AMDs. But hey, it would still be fast enough! And why the power supply change? PC P&C is the top brand in power supplies, and they're rated at a sort of RMS rather than peak power output. But I see your choice is just as good, though. Nice touch with the 1300W of power!

I love chat choice of dual 30" monitors! Awesome! I think those are the ones capable of going to 2560x1440, right? That'* the next step up after 1080p, or 1920x1080, so it'* probably a better decision to get dual 30" monitors instead of dual larger ones. Then again, with 4 8800s, not that you might run those in a Mac, you could have 8 monitors!

Well, thanks for the good input. I'd gladly have any one of these, though the one I'm setting up right now will be fairly close. Well, thanks! Let'* see what else is brought up here. Are there any good choice for multi-proc Intel boards? I heard about that for the 790i chipset.

Right before posting this list, I chatted with 2 people about that. It seems I'd rather not pay about $19,200 for 768GB of data for buying 6 of those. The motherboard only supports 6 SATA drives, and there'* no other expansion aside from USB. I'd much rather have the space, but that is a good product to buy if you're just spending money. For the time being, though, I'm informed that SSDs are slower than HDDs.
