I use Castrol high mileage in my cars. And it is true- you get what you pay for. You will either pay a little more now or a whole lot more later- your choice.

The Bonneville runs Penzoil 10 w 30. Never burns a drop, unless I try to switch oil brands.

The truck runs some kind of 10w30. It really doesn't matter what oil'* in it, it'll burn it all off in about 2000 miles anyway

Every oil comparison I've ever seen has shown Quaker State and Pennzoil were two of the worst oils available. I would never use either.

I use mostly Valvoline. In the past I've used Castrol but only on my beater and only because it was the cheapest stuff I could get other than QS, Pennzoil, and the dollar store stuff. Not that there is anything wrong with Castrol, I just like Valvoline better, I've never had a problem with it and it seems to keep the engine very clean inside.

ok guys, most of you keep talking about tests with different oils.

I have yet to see an actual link to a test. Link us!

I had always run penzoil when I changed my oil...until recently when I switched to syn. I am wondering if that is the cause of my engine being so dirty. The only real way to tell that is if after time the syn. cleans things up and it starts comming out cleaner.

penzoil is garbage, QS is garbage. My Caprice used Penz from the last owner, and it was horrible. I filled it with mobil 1, drove it 1000 miles, and there was leaks everywhere. Flushed it, there would be small chunks and BLACK BLACK THE BLACKEST oil that i ever saw. I used the valvoline MaxLife stuff for about 3000 miles, changed most of the gaskets, and everything look shiny clean.

Valvoline is the way to go.
