Default old dirt/street bike!!!

My dad bought this in 1986, he stopped using it in 1989, it has been transferd from our old town house, to our old house into the garage and to this house into the shed were it has resided the last ten years. It is a 1978 Yamaha Enduro 100cc. I tried starting it today, i ran some fresh fuel and car cleaner through all the lines and ensured that the tank was clean. I used electrical connector cleaner on all known electric junctions on it. I still cant get it to start, as far as I know I have spark, i stuck a screw driver into the plug boot, and had someone kick the motor over, i couldnt see spark, but i felt it when i touched my finger to the screwdriver, the only thing is the spark didnt feel very strong, it was enough to make my fingers kinda tense up, but nothing like i experienced when I did the same thing to my jeep years ago.

I tried for 20 minutes kicking it over with the choke on then off, still nothing at all. Also I tested the spark plug, it works.

Heres a few pictures minutes after draging it out of the shed, yes, it was burried, and yes after these pics i cleaned it up really good with some degreaser.

Also my dad said the odometer on the bike is correct.

Are you getting any pressure from the cylinder or exhaust when you try starting it?

Sounds like a fuel flow problem, then. Try cranking/kicking it a couple of times with the plugs out and see if you can smell gas in the cylinders...

I'll do that for sure! If not i will remove the carburetor and clean the crap outta it, this is most likley what is happening, as old fuel tends to turn into varnish after so many years.

Matt,

It is good to see another old, small cc Yamaha coming out of storage. I own a Yamaha YAS1C (1967) 125cc. I have the same problem. I am planning on removing the carburators and cleaning them. Mine had under 4K on the odometer. Keep me posted on your progress. I plan on getting mine running this summer for the first time since 1987. I will get close to 150 mpg....thus my interest in resurecting the thing.

BTW, the YAS1C is an oil injected two cycle twin cylender, twin carb bike.

bit of an update it has fuel delivery, but the coil is producing such low power it won't create spark between the plug gap, my guess is bad coil..

That'd do it. At least we got it narrowed down. (And to think, I've never worked on a motorcycle in my life!! But I do know carborated engines)

So, how much does that cost
