Sounds like the Mobo. If the Integrated IDE channels are bad, you'll want to get a new mobo, as a PCI card is not nearly as fast, as the motherboard ones. They also have driver issues, and are NOT good for any boot partitions.

oh yeah, big problems, i disabled the controller and shut it down, upon turning it back on the power light was off and the hard drive light blinked. It took me unplugging the computer and plugging it back in till I was able to get the power light back on. Then after that it too about 25 to 30 tried to get it to post.

I am leaving this thing on and not shutting it down untill this problem is fixed. It runs good when it running so then thou shall stay running.

Maybe the front panel stuf isn't hooked up just right? If those lights were like that. Very weird indeed...

I want to get the new 875P chipset motherboard for my computer, it will be compatable with my p4 2.4GHZ 533FSB. If I do this I will have to activate windows. I wont have to buy another license will I? Being the significant change in hardware?

You should be fine, and no you will not need to purchase a new license. My roomate switched from an AMD setup to a P4 motherboard without activation problems, but then he got a new mobo, and the switch was his last "freebie" activation. He had to call up microsoft and tell him what he changed, and they gave him an activation code. It was all free, but you can only change it so many times in a period, before they make you talk to them.
