Default Wireless 802.11G vs B?

Just got a new laptop, and it comes with wireless G. Is that backwards compatible with B wireless? So far I am having no luck. I got linksys 802.11B set up with two computers allready, if I have to I will just buy a B card, but rather not.

if you have MAC address filtering, be sure that you have the MAC address under "allowed" for that pc. If you are using the xp wireless configuration, you have to do a little work so it'll know which one to connect to, if its a 3rd party app, make sure it is connecting to your network. I have had my B card connect to a G network, and I have had a G card, connect to my B network. So I know from experience that it is backwards compatable.

It shold work fine, but you may need to set it up to "work" with it. Sometimes it needs to be told to work in Compatability.

I just got a G card too last week. You will find that more places ( if you take you laptop around) will have the G.

You might have to tweak it abit but it should work fine.

I brought it into work today, and set it up with our wireless B network, and it worked fine. So, at least its working.
