Brought home my new summer project. Needs quite a bit of work, but I'm hoping to get it hammered out before the end of the summer.

Update:

Ordered carburetor synchronizer, timing belts, radiator hoses, full engine gasket set, and a starter rebuild kit (mainly for the o-ring as I think that is where my oil leaked out from, but also figure I might as well rebuild the starter while I'm at it.)

Other items I know need tending to:
  • Need new spark plug wires
  • Front brakes have a brand new fluid container assembly but I need to figure out how to fill and bleed the front brakes.
  • Need new tires.
  • Need at least one new muffler, probably both.
  • Replace starter solenoid.
  • Fix leaking front shocks
  • Buy a battery.
  • Get seat re-upholstered

Didn't get as much time to work on the bike this weekend as I was hoping. Ended up sealing up the shop to keep the birds out, removing bird nests, and chasing the remaining birds out. Also scheduled a 19' scissor lift for next weekend so I can get the ballasts and bulbs replaced in all the lights. 2 of 16 fixtures decided to turn on initially... after about 12 hours they all eventually popped in but it'* definitely time for some revamping in that department.

In bike news, I did get the starter solenoid replaced and it turns over now. Noticed the turn signals aren't working, neither are any of the lights in the faring or the headlight.

Got the carbs out and started working on them. One of the throttle adjustments was very stuck and was then getting the rest hung up. Took it apart and hit it with some PB Blaster to get it loosened up. Throttles are all moving freely now. Hopefully next weekend after I get the shop lights replaced I can dig into the carbs a little more.

The fun with the carbs starts after it is running. You need a four gauge rack of vacuum gauges to sync the carbs.

Goldwing... nice. Looks like it could be a nice bike.
Not to hijack your thread here, but I just started a motorcycle project of my own... Going to learn how to ride with this thing. Here'* a few pics of how it looked when I bought it. Since then
it has gotten new tires and a tune up.








Its a 1978 kawasaki kz200 198cc single cylinder. The engine is incredibly simple.

Heres a pic of the clutch.


ALOT less going on then yours haha

Yes, I already have my "Carburetor Synchronizer", but since I have all the carbs apart I can get them pretty closely set them even before starting it.

I mounted a new high output light above the work bench to make these little projects easier (not the little clip on light..), along with a new outlet and a switch for the light:



Also dug out my little air compressor I never knew what to use for. Turns out it is perfect for cleaning tiny passageways. I got two carbs cleaned, rebuilt, and assembled again. Not bad for such a busy weekend. Can you tell which has been rebuilt and which hasn't?

I would guess the one on the right has been rebuilt considering the cleanliness of it?

I got a spare M90 in the basement you could mount on it!
