New song up: "Go Home"
Hey there,
As some of you might know, for fun I like writing, performing and recording songs in my little basement recording studio.
I finished mixing a new song the other night called Go Home. I collaborated with a young lady named Shub who sang the vocal track.
This is my first time having vocal tracks in any of my recordings, please check it out and let me know what you think.
Does the mix sound okay? Any suggestions? I'm kinda new at recording vocal tracks, so thanks for your feedback in advance.
I performed all the guitars, bass guitar, an organ track for the chorus and wrote a drum track on my drum program.
Check it out here, it'* the first song up.

Cheers!

I like it as well. Nice beat and good instrument playing. Has a semigritty electric with and early Neil Young edge to it without going grunge or industrial. I'd say, stay on the path your evolving with, it'* a good one.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback. You're right, I tried not to go too over the top with the heavy guitar, but it needed to happen. It needed to really drive the song home during those parts, however Shub sings quietly at times and I needed to be careful to not drown her out. I like it when accidents happen: She laid down an additional vocal track as she wanted to try something new with the song and I happened to keep it. When I brought the track in, I was surprised to see how it harmonized with her main track so I used it selectively through the song.
Maybe some EQ on her voice to help it fit into the overall picture would benefit?
I would definitely ask Shub to work on some more material with me. She has potential, she just needs to unleash it a bit more.
