Old Ford Van question..+ a story...
Okay im bored so here i go
Last weekend i was up at my aunt and uncles acerage. They have a 1975 Ford Van 351 Windsor. Its been parked for 4 years but my grandparents bought it new in 75 along with there Torino. Anyways so i go to start the van..first time in about 3 months. Once it starts nothing but pure thick solid white smoke shot out of the tail pipes. It smoked everything out i couldnt see the trees behind it, and it wreaked it almost made me sick to my stomach and practially gave me a headache. After 5-6 minutes the stink was gone and so was the white...even when i reved it up and let go. What was this white from??? its never done this befor..not that it matters cos its no longer in use...but im curious to know. Also later that day i was turning it over when smoke started to pour in the cab of the van, i popped the hood and the air cleaner and the intake was compleatly on fire, it took me, my aunt, and my uncle 5 minutes to get the fire out, upon inspection i noticed that when you pumped the accelerator, gas shout out of the accelerator pump diaphram so this is what leads me to think what started the fire...a soaked in gas air cleaner and a simple backfire. Any ways its dead now finally. Its extreamly rusted out and has 160,800 miles on the clock. It has never had any major work done to it in 28 years just maintence stuff.
Just curious about the white smoke issue and figured it was somehow story time lol

Well it is 28 years old and the original Holley 2 barrel, never rebuilt or played with. Like i said absolutly no work has been done to this van lol. Also leading me to think that when ever u put it in gear to move it u had to vibrate your foot on the peadle to get it to move after 10 minutes or so u can drive it normally no problems, but if u really step into it usually it will bog way down, die, or chug its way up to high rpms. Some times it starts fine no problem then 5 minutes later u have to pump the **** out of it to get it chug...lol
