does GM even WONDER why so many don't buy there cars?
so i went to the autoshow on friday, sat in a few gm'*. like a supercharged monte ss, impalla ss and thought to myself, WOW, they charge $32,000 for this GENERIC pos? i mean come on, its got a nice outside, but the interior, the seats.....cheap cheap cheap cheap. this would be fine, if the car'* msrp was in the mid to low 20'*. but then you go look at nissan, infinity, acura, volvo, bmw the same priced cars (32-35k) and its soooooo much nicer. gto looks promising at 35k, just needs a sunroof and subtle gfx, maybe a hood - but DONT raise the price anymore than a 1,000 for all of them, already getting a little steep. i can't believe gm has been getting away with this for so long. ive got a aurora, which is far as interiors go, most likely the best one gm'* ever made up untill the GTO, for sure the best in its time for gm. i can't believe the price they charge for some of there cars.
sorry guys, i love gm, i would like a bunch of there cars, but they need to turn up the interior quality quit a bit. i can't believe people even buy them with whats out there now, they were fine 10 years ago i guess. i did sit in a 2004 comp G, and the interiors are STARTING to look on the upside, but still not up to the competion

I think they're fine. GM is on an upturn, while the daimler chrysler marriage has made the Mercedes Name go down the hole. The SLR has plastic pieces on the dash. In a car below 40-50kl that'* fine with me, but the SLR supercar? It'* poor quality, i've seen consoles in MB'* that are loose! You can move them with your hand.
The aurora interior is nice, but it'* not the best, i think i still like the way mine is setup over Jim W'* (i drove for 1.5 hrs). The seats were definetly not grabbing me as nice as the bonnies.
The new C6 vette'* interior is nice, top notch, even magazines liked it. They hated the old one, which felt like the same as a 911 to me. GTO has a great interior, a little more importy then i'd like but it'* great. I actually prefer mine over the 00+ ones...
GM'* on an upturn, most of those vehicles were designed before 2000 mind you, Lutz is in now.

i hear you mikey.....i'm pretty disappointed in new interiors as well. In fact its the interior of the 00+ bonneville that will probably keep me from ever buying one, even though i love the body styling.
I would never go foreign or ford, so i'm still a gm guy.

i like the seats in our 93 ssei more for sitting in, not for looking at, but the rest of the interior, inmo doesn't come even close to comparing. not just the dash and all the buttons, but even the layout wasn't well thought out, not driver oriented very much.
impalla might sell well, but its not up to par with other sports sedans in the 30k price range (im talking about the impalla ss) maybe its the base thats selling tons, the new SS"* are a JOKE for what they cost. chrysler makes some nice cars, i love the 300m specials, maybe someone should teach them how to make a good fwd transmission though.
plus with the MB'*, there'* a difference between defective and just plain cheap, which gm is. the feel of the seats, the pleather, yuck. i know gm'* on the up, like the GTO and C6, but those are the flagships, hopefully there pulling tlhere heads out of there rears, cause right now they dont compete.
they fixed the outsides up nice over the years, but forgot about the insides.

The big thing that'* getting me with GM is that they are killing all of their "old reliables" in one fell swoop. Especially getting to me is the drop of the s10, which was replaced with a flimsier, and, in my opinion, uglier truck.
Also on the out is ALL of Oldsmobile, which were some of the most reliable cars ever produced by GM...
The cavalier...meh...high seller, but bad track record...their loss on the profits
And various others...
GM dealerships were just bragging about how the amount of warranty repairs was WAY down, and new models tend to have bugs that haven't worked out yet.
I have faith in GM to get through this and to take care of their customers, but it may be kind of a long haul for them for the next few years.
Just my .02, i have nothing against GM.

If you compare the new impala SS to the new Mercury Murauder, the Impala SS is way better than the Murauder and $4000 cheaper. This is who GM is targeting, not the import crowd. The bottom line is that import drivers will NEVER go domestic, ever. This is why Olds went out because they were targeting the import crowd. They were GM'* finest in my mind and compared very good to imports such as Maxima and better than Accord. But thats just it they were domestic cars looking like imports. Therefore they were unapelling to domestic and import buyers. I think Olds should stay and bring back the 88 Rocket with a LS6 Vette engine. Domestic buyers like muscle and spacious interiors, do that and Olds will survive. I thought that my interior on my car is more comfortable and supportive than 60% of the cars at the auto show. I mean how many cars have buket seats that are split bench.

I WANT THEM TO GET RID OF CHEAP PLASTIC CLIPS AND PLUGS THAT BREAK EVERYTIME YOU NEED TO WORK ON YOUR CAR
e.g.-- front map light thingy with the fog light button won't fit tight in the roof, pillar pod clip is broken, sun visor fell out of the roof while driving on the highway, cupholder broke, door panels rattle, etc, etc, etc

If done right you don't break clips.
Id rather have my dash material (whatever the hell it is) over leather in a daily driver. The controls are exactly where i'd put them too.
