What are the differences between R134A and R12 units. I am totally in the dark on this. I put this in the lounge because it is not Bonneville related. My parents just bought a 95 G20 van and it said something about 134A under the hood. Any help would be appreciated.

134A is more environmentally friendly. R12 is very hard to find, and many R12 guys are converting to R134A.

If I'm not mistaking, R12 keeps the air a LOT colder.

I wouldn't say a LOT colder.....i agree that r12 is supposed to work better, but we've converted all of our tractors over to 134a, and i never noticed a difference.

I can get R12 wholesale, About $1200/lb. Autozone carries R134A for what, $5/lb? Many people convert to R134A.

Ya, that'* a myth.

I've got 60 lbs. of R12 is anyone is interested?! LOL. I keep it around for the 79. My dad was an HVAC guy and bought pallets of the stuff before it was no longer available.
